Independence for Scotland looking less like a pipe dream

17 April, 2008 (07:44) | News, Scotland | By: admin

Vote for an Independent ScotlandThe Evening News today are talking about more Scots in favour of independence than ever before after a year of successfully managing the country by the SNP and my hero Alex Salmond, whose title First Minister is frankly an insult, the man should be our Prime Minister.

I must say as a proud Scot I don’t wish any harm on the UK or its people, I just don’t want to be part of it anymore, the time is right for Scotland to rejoin the other independent countries of the world, I mean if Iceland with only 316,000 people can be successful so can we.

So I imagine I’m going to get a few nay-sayers commenting here, especially since so many people are visiting my humble little blog, but before you do, think about this. Scotland was independent before, we’ve contributed a lot to the world already, some of the best inventors and economists have been Scottish so I know we can make a success of being independent, and look, if we’re all part of the EU, we don’t even need to put up border posts between Scotland and England.

Nothing much will change, but we’ll finally be able to make choices about how our country is managed, and even though we speak English, our legal system is different from England and always has been, we have a different culture, different history, even a different language if you choose to speak Gaelic. I hope you can all join me in standing up for an independent Scotland.

Hi Matt! Always up for a challenge so after reading your post I went heading off to the search engines to see if I couldn’t dig you up a Scotland-theme wp template. You are right. After about 15 minutes (I’ve got tons of stuff to do today LOL!) I’ve given up. However, I’ll keep my eyes open for you :)

Thanks Diane, I suspect I might just have to try my hand at making my own theme, but where to begin, I’m no expert at these things. Maybe I need to hunt down a template maker and see if I can get some help.

I’m Scottish as well, although you might not figure it out from reading my blog, and like you I think it’s time for Scotland to have its independence. BTW, I’m a big fan and Andreas’ templates, but I was disappointed when you moved from Blogger, my Hawaii theme isn’t available for that yet, oh well, great start to this blog BTW

Why not sign up to become the 51st state of the United States of America? Then you, too, can become a colonial.

Seriously, though, I have never been convinced of the advantages of smallness. What are the big advantages to be gained? Having been born and raised in the U.S., I have no idea of what “smallness” is all about.

As a 100% Irish American and grew up in the Bronx where hating England and supporting the IRA were the norm.I have to blame America if there was oil in Scotland you know what would happen.
England has a lot of blood on their hands and they have a lot of nerve>Reagan should of straighten all that out.Anway good luck to you and your Clan:)
